Not sure when this picture was taken. We think it was probably in 1938. Man- Carlos Severe. Tom's grandfather. He was a sheep herder in Idaho. This picture was taken at his sheep camp. He stayed there from early spring until late fall. He passed away there in about 1942.
Woman- Myrtle Hunter Severe. Tom's grandma. She was the mother of 15 children. She had 13 or her own and got 2 children when she married Carlos. Carlos' first wife died. She worked hard all of her life taking care of the kids and she also cleaned houses and hotels for money to survive. She passed away in 1959.
Little girl- Lillian Severe Rydalch. She was the youngest of the 15 children. She still lives in Idaho.

Incredible picture. 15 children!? What hearty people that generation produced.
I love old photos. What hard workers they were. Can't imagine having so many to take care of and working outside the home too!
Old photos always intrigue me. Thanks for giving us some of the history of these people.
=)
Wow - amazing pix. I have several that I don't know WHO the people are but the pix are like this one - just fascinating! Visiting via Follow Friday 40 and Over - saw your blog title and had to visit!
Photos tell such a tale. Without the background of a photo, our imagination would spin. Never in a million years would I have thought that Mrs. Severe had 15 children. I appreciate your sharing the photo and the lives of the people in it. :-)
P.S. Came via FF 40+

This and That. Here and There. Now, Sometimes Then.
Wow! 15 children? That is amazing!! The women back then did work outside while carrying their babies!!
Now this is an interesting picture. It brings an antique yet classy aura..I love it=)
What a great picture on its own—and to think that you actually know the identities of the people in it makes it even more special!
