It Wasn't What I Expected

Tom and I just arrived back from our trip to Salt Lake City with a detour ending up in Idaho. Throughout this trip I have come to know and appreciate the meaning of this quote. We arrived in Salt Lake on Monday July 4th. I was so excited to be there. But as time went on I began to become very sad. My town just wasn't the same any more. There was hardly anybody there and they have been building downtown for several years and things don't look the same. Plus I saw a "wayward" relative and that was sad. I just don't like what they are doing with their life. Makes me sad. I also saw an aunt and an uncle whose health are declining. They were just not their old selves. They are pretty young. 73 and 68. This is part of the reason why we left a few days early and went to Idaho. We had a really nice visit there.

As I was pondering over our trip to Salt Lake, this quote came to mind. It really gave me comfort. I am so glad that these people are in my life and that we had some good times together. Salt Lake is still a great town and I am so blessed to have been able to go there so often. It will always have a special place in my heart.

I still have those memories and pictures in my mind and no one can take them away. So I just need to hold on to those and be ever grateful that I had them.

Things change and that's okay. That is the way life is. Some changes are for the best and some are not. But, at least I had them and I can smile about that.

I love your attitude Karen.
I've learned too as I've aged, to appreciate each and every day more.

I hope that struggling relative is going to be okay. It is so hard to watch someone do what you know will only make them unhappy.

That is a good quote to keep in mind.

That is a good way to keep it in perspective. I know that things have changed in my life also, but nothing can take away the memories of the better times.

I typed this already but service not available...I need this quote badly since I have the same reasons that you have. Everything is changing as loved ones are aging
